Georgetown South Carolina
Rich with history and warm with Southern hospitality and charm, Georgetown is the third oldest city in South Carolina and is even the possible site of the first European settlement in North America.
Thomas Lynch, Jr., one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence, also called Georgetown home.
Over the last century, our city has also become a center of industry – boasting the largest kraft paper mill in the world. Steel plants and smaller plants, as well as commercial fishing, have also expanded and diversified Georgetown industry. The last two decades have seen Georgetown blossom as a center for tourism as well, while being tucked away between Myrtle Beach and Charleston has preserved its small town charm and the area’s natural beauty.
